2 Mins read

Looking for a new place to live? How about one of the best places to live in the UK?

If you’re looking for somewhere new to put down roots following the pandemic, you might be interested to know which areas are considered the best places to live in the UK. The lockdown taught us just how important home is and the UK has all kinds of incredible villages, towns and cities complete with beaches, mountains, forests, parks and more. Why not store your stuff in a self-storage unit and head off for a trial move to one of them?

Some places though, are more popular than others so might break the budget when it comes to rents or property prices. Let’s take a look:

Stroud, Gloucestershire

Stroud has been voted the best place to live because it has so much going for it. It has gorgeous green countryside, highly ranked schools, excellent transport systems and a growing economy. Interestingly, the area is also popular because there are so many forward-thinkers residing there. Organic eateries, vegetarian cafes, yoga havens and the birth of Extinction Rebellion – Gloucestershire is no quiet market town. This attracts plenty of people looking for an area that has more to offer than the usual, people looking for an independent area with its own voice.

North Berwick, Scotland

North Berwick was named the best place to live in Scotland. It’s jaw-dropping beaches, great schools and exciting high street are just some of the reasons people rate North Berwick so highly in Scotland.

Holywood, County Down

A stylish combination of Victorian and modern architecture forms a really beautiful aesthetic for this beautiful town. People who live in Holywood also love the various outdoor spaces, woods and phenomenal views of surrounding areas.

Ilkley, West Yorkshire

Rugged moors, gorgeous Victorian buildings and earthy, moody paths and roads make up this beautiful place. It has a 30’s Lido, easy access to Leeds, and its schools are highly rated too.

Altrincham, Cheshire

This attractive market town has great transport links, and sits in a fantastic position to reach the countryside, or the bustling city of Manchester. It was also voted the best place to live in the UK last year

Stamford, Lincolnshire

The quiet market town of Stamford has beautiful scenery, a rich history and fantastic schools. It is often admired for having so many gorgeous listed buildings – over 600 in fact.

Woodbridge, Suffolk

Woodbridge is famed for having phenomenal schools as well as an attractive town centre and a lovely selection of homes from various eras.

Surrey Hills, Surrey

The Surrey Hills is an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty so it’s no surprise that it is a popular place to live. In addition, it is in fantastic proximity to London by train and road, so it’s a great option for commuters.

Frome, Somerset

Frome is a picturesque part of Somerset that has a great range of independent shops and eateries, as well as a rich economy heavily involved in the textile industry.

Usk, Monmouthshire

Usk is a charming area of Wales with hills, a gorgeous river and a welcoming community. It has some really pretty natural designs including flowers and plants, plus local salmon that is famed across the UK for its quality.

Teddington, Richmond

Teddington has a lovely feel to it, with lots of young families thriving here as a green space away from the bustling capital. It has excellent transport links to the rest of the country, as well as a strong community feel, and gorgeous Victorian streets.

Hopefully you are feeling inspired by the various beautiful parts of the UK to consider moving to. At the least, there’s plenty to consider for a staycation. At the most, why not pop your things into cheap self storage and have a trial move to a new potential area? New adventures await….
